The Echoland main street’s nightlife, combined with some of the Hakuba Valley’s most affordable accommodation options make the area an appealing choice for young adults.

Neighbourhoods
Echoland is centred around the Echoland Main Street, where the majority of restaurants and bars can be found, with side streets branching off.
The surrounding neighbourhoods are tree-lined, quiet and spread out with plenty of space.
West Misorano starts at the Western edge of Echoland Main Street and can be thought of as a leafy suburb of Echoland.
The Mizuho area starts past the Hakuba Base Camp bus terminal at the Eastern edge of Echoland Main Street and strectches up towards Happo One Village.
The South Misorano area runs below West Misorano, Echoland and Mizuho. A stream separates South Misorano from the neighbouring area with bridges to West Misorano and Mizuho but not Echoland.
Continuing southwards over the Hira river, the Meitetsu area is the closest area to the Hakuba 47 ski resort and is connected to South Misorano by bridge at the East edge of the area.
Ski Resort
The Echoland area is not at the base of any ski resort but is well connected to the rest of the Hakuba Valley with direct shuttle bus links to Hakuba 47, Goryu, Happo One, Iwatake & Tsugaike ski areas and indirect shuttle bus connections (one change required) to Norikura & Cortina ski areas.
Happo One is the closest ski resort and has a little something for everyone: incredible views, a great variety of long piste runs including steeps, beginner slopes and moguls, freestyle park, great ski school & guiding services and fantastic backcountry terrain.
Hakuba 47 / Goryu combined ski resort is located within a short drive. The resort has a good variety of piste runs for all ability levels with the Hakuba 47 side having tree-riding areas open to all and tree riding zones requiring registration to access.
Both Happo One and Hakuba 47 have excellent backcountry terrain off the back of the mountain, accessed through the gates at the top of the ski resort boundaries.
Pro Tip: Experts should book a private guide to take them out into the backcountry for safety and to get the most out of the experience
Dining & Nightlife
The Echoland main street hosts the majority of restaurants in the area. The Mizuho and South Misorano areas also feature some great dining options.
The choice of cuisines ranges from Mexican, French, Italian, Indian & Cafes / Delis with plenty of Japanese restaurants. Choose from specialist Ramen, Soba, Yakiniku BBQ, Sushi & Wagyu Steak to Izakayas offering delicious local classics.
Echoland main street and neighbouring Happo One village offer the best nightlife in the Valley, making them both appealing choices for young adults.
DJs come up from Tokyo on weekends during the winter season. Weekdays are quieter by comparison but there are still good options for a few drinks.
Onsen
There are limited options for onsen in the Echoland area.
The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel has large indoor and outdoor baths along with the Oak Forest Hotel the other alternative, both of which can be found in West Misorano.
Onsen lovers should head to Hakuba Town for the best onsen in the valley with specular views and beautiful outdoor rock pools. Find out more >
