The largest and most popular of the Niseko villages, Hirafu is the beating heart of the Niseko area and sits at the base of the Hirafu ski area.

With high-quality international ski schools, ski hire stores with the latest powder ski & snowboards, shopping, dining & lively nightlife and with English widely spoken, Hirafu is a world-class international ski resort. Despite having so much to offer, the village is relatively compact with everything located within relatively short walking distance.

Boasting the widest variety of accommodation in the Niseko area, Hirafu caters well for large groups looking for spacious chalets, families looking for convenient apartments and hotels and the well-heeled looking for supremely luxurious accommodation.

Neighbourhoods

Comprised of five neighbourhoods, each with its own charm and reasons to stay, Hirafu offers something for everyone.

Hirafu is on a slope from Upper Hirafu, closest to the ski lifts, separated from the bustling Middle Hirafu by the main road 343, and further down the quieter Lower Hirafu.

The exclusive Izumikyo district is adjacent to Upper Hirafu on one side and out to East Hirafu on the other side. Both Lower Hirafu and East Hirafu are connected to the ski lifts and the central Middle Hirafu neighbourhood by the free Hirafu shuttle bus services.

Upper Hirafu – most sought after

• Closest area to the lifts, ski schools - perfect for families wanting ultimate convenience
• Mostly apartments & hotels rooms Several onsen plus plenty of shopping & dining – ideal for non-skiers
• Ski in / ski out accommodation facing onto the Ace Family run
• Select few apartments very close to the Hirafu Gondola
• A few of Hirafu’s favourite restaurants and bars are intermingled with the accommodation
• Close to the convenience stores / retail stores / delis / bakeries

Middle Hirafu – heart of the action

• Restaurants and bars on your doorstep
• Mix of chalets, houses, apartments, hotels, lodges
• Close to the Ace Family Lift – access the rest of the mountain
• Close to convenience stores / retail stores / delis / bakeries

Lower Hirafu – most peaceful

• Mostly chalets & houses offering good value
• Properties on the left side edge of Lower Hirafa are still within easy walking distance of the Ace Family lifts
• Quieter than Upper and Middle Hirafu
• Restaurants and bars are dotted around the area
• Connected to the lifts via the free shuttle bus service

Hirafu Izumikyo – luxury residential

• Peaceful residential area characterised by large luxury chalets and a few cabins
• A few minutes’ walk to the Hirafu Gondola and a stone's throw from the shopping, restaurants & bars of Middle Hirafu
• Close to Lawson’s convenience store

East Hirafu – most affordable

• Spacious area with peace & quiet and great value accommodation
• Further away from the lifts than other areas
• The free shuttle bus access the lifts and Middle Hirafu as well as Hanazono
• A few great restaurants and bakeries
