Overview
The heart of the Niseko area, Hirafu is a bustling, modern, international ski town. The largest and most developed of Niseko’s destinations, it offers an incredible breadth of alpine accommodation options with authentic world class dining and lively nightlife scene to match.
Hirafu village offers all of the amenities you would expect of a world class ski resort, from child care, shopping, winter activities, snow mobiling, English speaking ski schools, guiding & ski hire to hot springs, massage, physiotherapy, private chefs and CAT Tours.
The Hirafu ski resort is the largest of Niseko United’s four ski areas and offers a fantastic mix of piste runs and off piste tree skiing as well as a terrain park and the best night skiing in Japan. Families are well catered for with kids’ lessons, magic carpet lifts and play areas.
With English universally spoken, Hirafu is a wise choice for anyone skiing in Japan for the first time but quickly becomes a firm favourite, enchanting visitors from all over the world to return year after year.
Where is Hirafu?
Hirafu village is located at the base of the Hirafu section of the Niseko United ski resort, between Niseko Village and Hanazono.
New Chitose Airport (CTS) is the closest airport and can be reached in 2.5 to 3 hours by road. Kutchan is the closest town at 15 minutes’ drive and Sapporo is the closest major city at 2 hours’ drive.
Hirafu is the premier ski resort of Hokkaido, Japan’s northern most island.

Niseko United Ski Resort
The Niseko United Ski Area is comprised of the four connected ski areas of Hanazono, Hirafu, Niseko Village and Annupuri. It is the largest single ski resort area in Japan.
There is enough terrain to keep everyone happy from mellow piste runs, steeper pistes, tree runs, sidecountry off piste and full backcountry terrain.
